Auditing your current skills can be a valuable activity. Below, you will find a lesson plan that will help learners: –
- Think about skills required for a career they’re interested in
- Audit their skills in relation to a career of their choice
- Identify where they have already demonstrated these skills
- Determine how they can acquire these skills if they are lacking
We’ve all been there in an interview.
“Can you tell me about a time you demonstrated the ability to solve a problem?”
Your answer needs to be strong enough to wow the interviewer, convincing enough to show you haven’t made it up, and novel enough to stand out from the crowd. Unfortunately, many young people give bland answers such as “during my exams”. These are unhelpful at best and detrimental to their chances at worst.
The learners we speak to have miles more to offer. They’ve done more and achieved more than they give themselves credit for. The problem lies in an inability to articulate the skills they have effectively, as well as linking the activities they do to the skills the activity builds.
Kloodle is designed to help learners with this very problem. By creating a strong Kloodle profile, you are, by definition, reflecting upon the skills you are building. This strengthens the link between the activity and its constituent skills, as well as improving your understanding of the skills you are building and the ability to articulate these skills.

Define the term “Skill”…….
List as many “skills” as you can……
Audit the skills of a career you’re interested in and think of examples from your own life
Identify the gaps and activities you can participate in to address these gaps
Complete your skills audit – here’s how (a description is also in the video above)
Log in to your student profile
Ensure you are on the “Dash” tab of your profile
Under your skills wheel, you’ll see a button entitled “Initial Skills Assessment”
Click the button
Complete the star ratings – be honest! This works best if there are distinctions between your best and worst skills
Click “Publish” at the bottom of the page
You’ll see a red wheel on your skills wheel. This is your baseline assessment.
Create posts based on your skills audit
Log in to your profile & click “Create Post”
Give the post a title
Upload any photos, videos and documents that evidence your participation
Use the description section to describe how you demonstrated the skills
Tag in the skills & click “Publish”
Navigate back to your profile and see how your skills wheel has grown
